Kemper Brand Waterproofing System
Cold Liquid Applied "Reinforced" Membrane
Aerial is one of the elite certified applicators of Kemper products in the United States. Their revolutionary resin-fleece technology was first developed in 1957. For 50 years, Kemper System roofing, waterproofing and surfacing products have been protecting some of the world's most important landmarks and most valuable properties in 30 countries, over 1 billion square feet of surfaces, and under the widest range of climatic conditions. They are the leader in cold-applied liquid waterproofing membranes. Kemperol® membranes are suitable for a wide range of exterior waterproofing applications, including non-insulated roofs, protected roof membrane assemblies, plazas, garden roofs, planters, fountains, tunnels, water tanks, foundations and flashings.
We most commonly use Kemper System products for the following:
- Elevated Decks (Kemperol® BR)
- Planter Boxes and Fountains (Kemperol® V210)
- Plaza Decks / Parking Garage Decks (Kemperol® 2K PUR)
How Kemper Works
Kemper is a two part resin technology system – this cold-applied liquid resin combined with their polyester fleece material cures to form a fully reinforced monolithic membrane. We are wary of systems that use random fiber reinforcement, these systems may be good for surfacing, but they just don’t offer the long-term performance of a fully reinforced system. The thickness and strength of the Kemper membrane can be controlled and it’s a seamless technology eliminating any areas of fatigue or weakness. It has a low VOC content and is self-terminating eliminating the need for fasteners, and adhesives. It is UV and chemical resistant, odorless, root and rot resistant making it impervious to bio deterioration and it’s unaffected by standing water or ice.
These products adhere to any substrate, vertical or horizontal and can be used in many ways, on roofs, planter boxes, fountains, etc… It’s highly durable with a long life cycle and withstands dimensional movement on virtually any substrate. In 1967 a Kemperol® membrane was applied to the 3 million square foot roof of a major Volkswagen plant in Germany. This Kemper System membrane continues to perform - without failure - to this day. Architects and engineers have chosen the system for the dome atop the Empire State Building, NY's MetLife Building, Madison Square Garden and along the Alaskan Pipeline just to name a few.
YES - It Is More Expensive!
The Kemper BR System is what we prefer to use over any other product on the market today. It is more expensive, but considering the high amount of costly water damage repairs, mold remediation and structural repairs - it's a bargain.
We believe this is the best way to protect your home from water intrusion, lengthening the life of your decks, roof membrane, fountains and planter boxes from about 5 years to 25-30 years. Poorly constructed systems without proper waterproofing membranes and drainage planes have cost contractors and insurance companies millions of dollars in claims. For homeowners, remediating water damage is quite a disruption in their lives dealing with everything from costly mold infestation and sickness to temporary relocation, loss of personal belongings and lengthy court battles.
If you see water intrusion or suspect you're deck is failing, call us for a complete inspection.
