Pool Shell Waterproofing with Kemper System

When it absolutely positively cannot LEAK!!

For the protection of critical construction details a quick call to the The Aerial Companies to inquire about industry leading waterproofing technologies, like the Kemper System, would be your best bet.  We are one of the few contractors in the United States qualified to install Kemper.  This cold liquid applied system is a two part resin technology system, it's liquid resin combined with polyester fleece material which cures to form a fully reinforced monolithic membrane.  Kemper's warranty is far superior to competing products providing 20-30 year terms.

Leaks through the elevated pool shell and into the surrounding deck and wall system prompted this extensive remediation project which included the excavation of the pool shell, tile and setting material, as well as the stone topping on the elevated decks surrounding the pool.  Below are photos of the Kemper System installation process inside an elevated pool shell at a beachfront Estate Home in Naples, Florida.

"THIS ISN'T CONSTRUCTION, IT'S MORE LIKE SURGERY"!

Pool Shell Excavation in Preparation for Kemper Waterproofing System

Follow the Steps

Surface Preparation - Excavation and Repairs

We first removed glass tile and setting material to expose the gunite core.  Additionally, we removed the stone topping and mudset on the surrounding elevated pool deck.  Epoxy injection and other concrete repair techniques were required to restore minor deterioration within the concrete pool shell structure.
Pool Shell Waterproofing with Kemper - First Layer Diamond Brite Basecoat

Basecoat - Latticrete

A thin overlay of Latticrete leveling basecoat was installed to fill all voids and to prepare the surface to receive the Kemper System.  The leveling of the substrate surface was necessary to provide a bond line matrix for the proper mechnaical bond of the EP primer and sand to follow.

Primer - First Step in the Kemper Process

After the surface has been thoroughly cleaned of all latent particles – we apply a prime coat of EP primer with sand expressed into the surface to provide bondline for system elements to follow.
Kemper System - Pool Shell Waterproofing - Flashing Process

Pre-Flashing - Transitions, Edges and Penetrations

Next pre-flash to provide additional reinforcement at differential material bondlines and all critical transitions, and penetrations.
Kemper System - Pool Shell Waterproofing - Resin and Fleece Application

Base Sheet - Kemper's Polyester Fleece

Fully Reinforced Monolithic Membrane

We’re then ready to cover the entire field with the polyester fleece.  We roll on the liquid resin and lay strips of Kemperol infused fleece which when cured forms the monolithic waterproofing membrane.

Protection Layer - Alkalinity Barrier

The final step is the application of an alkalinity barrier with unimen expressed into the liquid creating a final mechanical bond profile, ready to receive the Pool Brite.

Masonry Base for Tile Application - "Pool Brite"

Pool Brite is a state-of-the-art, pre-blended pool plaster designed to provide an exceptionally smooth, radiant white and long lasting finish.  Pool Brite provides a superior base substrate for classic imported glass tile.  This material application promotes the ability to countour and shape surface elements within the pool.
