Pressure Cleaning
Hire a Professional
There are many ways that pressure cleaning can be harmful to your structure, so it’s important to hire a professional, or talk to one, prior to doing it yourself.
At Aerial, pressure cleaning is usually combined with other construction services that we provide or as a part of our various Building and Estate Home Maintenance Programs we offer.
Commercial Buildings
Building cleaning can not only improve the appearance of a building but has the importance of ridding harmful, deteriorating agents which break down the building components and allow deterioration in the finished surfaces - if allowed to accumulate.
In the course of cleaning a wall of unsightly stains, dirt or other harmful residues, the building can be inspected for structural or other maintenance deficiencies at the same time - allowing the property manager, owner or client to plan or budget remedial work. In some cases, the problem can be rectified right then, at the time of cleaning. It's amazing what a little water at high pressure will do to improve the appearance of a building, perhaps this is a first step to getting your building in tip-top shape!
Condominium Associations
Condominium Facilities Managers often hire us to clean mansard roofs, exterior building walls, patio decks and public area pool decks. In this environment we typically spray a pre application of diluted chlorine, TSP or Soap (to evenly disperse the chlorine molecules over the surfaces}. After waiting a short period of time (typically 15 minutes minimum) we vigorously clean the surfaces in a very deliberate manor using pressure cleaning equipment which can generate water fans with 1500 to 2500 psi of conical nozzle pressure. This process removes surface contaminants which have attached to or may be growing on the surface being cleaned. In some cases we have to us soft brushes to scrub certain areas where tougher stains have marred the finishes. After this treatment we rinse the surfaces one final time with fresh water to insure as clean a surface as possible.
Estate Home Owners
Be careful when pressure washing stone… For years people have believed that more pressure was better for cleaning stone. From our experience, we have found that high pressure damages the surface of the stone and is often unnecessary. Each time a stone surface is pressure washed, a layer of the stone material is removed. This is especially detrimental to precast and concrete materials that have a thin top layer on the material that covers the coarse aggregate within the stone. Using the proper products will safely and effectively clean the stone without damaging the surface of the material.
We’ve seen on many occasions inexperienced pressure cleaners holding the nozzle too close to the precast surface leaving a trace of grooves etched into the stone damaging thousands of dollars worth of material.
